Cycle to the Downtown Farmer’s Market this Saturday
MARKET ENCOURAGES CYCLING WITH SPECIAL EVENT THIS WEEKEND
Free Bike Tune Ups at Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market
Each week many families choose to cycle to the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market and fill their panniers with local bounty. This week the market celebrates this gas-free option with “Windsor Cycles”. The event takes place on Saturday, July 10th, starting at 8am with cycling themed activities that include:
-
Free bike tune ups by One Good Earth Cycles
-
Wear a bike helmet to get a free ballot for a draw (adults & kids)
-
Pick up local cycling information on Wine Trail Rides (Windsor Eats) or get the new bike trail map (Windsor Bicycling Committee)
“Cycling is a fun and healthy activity and we want to celebrate it and encourage residents to discover the market by riding over,” says Victoria Rose, one of the event organizers. “Get on your bike and get down to the market!”
In addition to the cycling theme, the live entertainment continues this week and includes a performance by the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. Visitors are encouraged to sit and relax while they enjoy the music and surroundings.
Bike Friendly Windsor, a cycling advocacy group looking for new members, knows that there are already a lot of cyclists at the market and they will hold their next meeting there on July 17th at 10am. Market volunteers hope that more of the community will see the market space as a place to gather.

The market runs from 8am to 1pm every Saturday until October 30 and is located at 44 University Avenue East.

Can I walk over this Saturday? I don’t own a bicycle. Hey, how about a Shoe/Pedestrian Saturday!!! For all those that walk over from the surrounding condos etc. A foot specialist, a shoe maker (is there one in Windsor?), free pedicures?
Anyway, I will see you and everybody else there!
Mark, there is a cobber on Erie street still! A dying trade to be sure.
errr…… “cobbler”
The Downtown Farmer’s Market is one of the best things that have happened to downtown in quite a while. The city would be smart to actually build an open area market or refurbish the one they have as obviously throught the hard work and dedication of the volunteers and farmers alike, this has been a success!
can’t wait until Saturday….
