WIFF and WAMM launch music video contest
and call for submissions
For immediate release: March 18, 2010
Windsor, ON - The Windsor Music Video Contest, presented by the Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) and WAMM Magazine, today announced a call for music video submissions. The competition is open to filmmakers, musicians and music video directors in Windsor and region and Detroit, Michigan. Participants are invited to submit a three- to five-minute short film created for a piece of local music, and the deadline is April 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm EST.
Submission forms and information regarding eligibility for the 2010 Windsor Music Video Competition are available at www.wmvc.ca. Entries will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and the winner will be awarded the $1,000 prize package.
“The Windsor Music Video Contest increases the visibility of local filmmakers and musicians and enhances awareness of their talents and skills,” said WIFF Chair, Mark Boscariol. “The contest magnifies the role of music in independent film. “Next year we’ll include a web and social media competition facilitating convergence of the three groups — music, film, web and social media — and fostering a new industry in Windsor,” he added.

Thanks mesm, I’m really hoping to use what I’ve learned at SXSW to combine forces with Stephen at WAMM and Tom at Phog to maximize exposure for all the musicians/filmmakers who enter.
The development commission has even voiced its support of the effort and all stars and planets seem to becoming aligned. Meeting with people from Detroit Next week. They’re gonna know who we are and there are Detroiters participating at all levels, entrants and judges
I am so jazzed
