Jul  31, 2009 to Aug  3, 2009 - Windsor Emancipation Celebration is a multi-cultural celebration that invites people of all ethnicities to celebrate the 1833 Emancipation Act passed by the British Parliament banning slavery throughout the British Empire, including British North America (Canada).” “Enjoy live music, delectable cuisine, and the vibrant costumes and colors of masqueraders as they parade down Ouellette Avenue to the scenic riverfront. Come and enjoy all of the heritage, beauty and culture Windsor has to offer especially during this annual festive celebration of The Emancipation Act of 1833, that made Canada the final destination on the Underground Railroad to freedom”. “See you at the riverfront!”
