Map YOUR Money
Kudos to Windsor Visuals Owen Wolter for helping us visualize exactly what our municipal spending priorities are! Owen used Google Maps to show us where we are (and aren’t) spending the flood of federal stimulus cash heading our way.

Way to go, Owen!

Yesss, my master plan of getting on ScaleDown is complete!!
I’d like to thank the academy, city counc….er… scratch that. But in all seriousness, thanks to Paul Synott for illustrating the power of Google Maps to me.
I’m still skeptical about bike lanes on Quality Way. I can think of more than a dozen other locations where they’d be highly desired.
You’re welcome ANY time, Owen! I’m sure, that with you in our ranks, we can take over this city in NO TIME!
PS - Fabulous job on the map! Loved it!!!
This is neat, bravo.
I would be interested in seeing a map like this showing all the abandoned/vacant and unused industrial land within the city limits and a comparison of that area in size to the annexed lands.
I am not convinced of any need to extend services out into productive farmland. You don’t need “shovel ready” industrial land when we have so much “turn-key” industrial property already.
I completely agree with the bike lanes around Quality Way, there’s definitely other places that deserved them more. I would’ve liked to see funding to provide a safe way to travel on foot or bike on Dougall Ave/Ouellette Ave between Tecumseh Rd. and EC Row. No sidewalks, narrow roadways, 60kmh speed limits. No wonder people drive everywhere in this city.
This is very interesting and has got me thinking about all sorts of other applications. Seeing the old street car routes mapped this way would be cool.
It’s difficult for me to complain about about any additional bike routes, but Quality Way is definitely a weird use of scarce dollars. I second Randolph’s suggestion about Doguall Ave. I cringe when I see brave cyclists and pedestrians trying to navigate that death trap.
Connecting South Windsor to the core would be expensive, but would do wonders for our bike plan. And I would finally be able to cycle out to Walmart…
Kidding.
I agree with James. Why spend more money on “shovel ready” lands when so much of our industrial landscape is vacant.
I would much rather see money spent in neighbourhoods than where most of it is going.
Will Dougall Ave EVER get a bike lane?
