The Grassman Cometh
I couldn’t help writing about the crazy thing I saw today.
While staying out of the labour dispute. (Best assessment in my opinion is in a comment on Mr. Schnurr’s site by a poster named kirwoodderby)
However, I was at a park on Holburne today with my son and there was a few people cutting grass. A minor confrontation occurred with (alleged CUPE using bad language to a minor, alleged citizen flicking the water out of their bottle at the Cupe member) Just happy my son and I came after this happened
Anyhow, after the police came and went. (nothing more really to this) a kid gets up out of the corner of the park dressed in a grass suit.
(First thing I thought was if there were more of these grass kids dressed before the lawn cutting, should we check the clippings?)
All the parents in the park thought that this was some CUPE spy (talk about an example of how bad the atmosphere is), but apparently it was just some kid practicing or playing with his new paintball camouflage.
I don’t know what to comment on this one but I couldn’t stop from posting it.

I had to take a bus ride on Saturday, the 1A and as it rounded the corner on to Tecumseh from Ouellette, I got my first look at Jackson Park. The grass was a foot and half high and growing! I quite liked it! It gave some much needed character to that under used and staid Edwardian idea from a century ago. I find most parks in Windsor boring to the point that they look like wanna be cemetaries!
Yes, I agree. I went for a run in Jackson Park this morning. I’m not sure if I imagined it or not, but the long grass seems to muffle the sound of the cars better and looks pretty good. It felt less like I was in the middle of the city than usual. I’d like to see the city keep large sections of it wild, but maintain a couple of jogging/walking paths.
It seems as though we’re learning some valuable lessons from the strike.
In the same vein, it might be easier to institute a one-bag garbage pick-up policy after the strike too.
