What’s Good for Santa Fe…
Recently voted the 17th best place in the United States to live and launch a small business, Santa Fe,New Mexico is a small city on the rise. Located on a picturesque plateau in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the place has a lot going for it.
When reading about the 400 year old city I couldn’t help but think that if this small city of 65,000 can flourish in a comparitively remote location, why can’t Windsor in our prime location flourish just the same, despite our old economy taking an extended leave of absence?
We can draw inspiration from the Santa Fe Small Business Incubator, a non-profit business startup/educational/assistance facility who houses several small businesses under one roof. The SFBI offers them assistance and training on how to run a business successfully, which has help diversify Santa Fe’s local economy beyond cowboy tourism into the fields of high tech industry, education, the arts, small manufacturing, etc.
Sounds like they are right up our alley, ladies and gentlemen…

…but did they consider that in New Mexico, there is not enough water to support the towns and cities that already exist? SW USA is going to be dry if they keep expanding without securing sources of water. I think great lakes cities will thrive, just for the fact that there is a stable supply of ‘clean’ water.
Dry, thats sort of my point… If they (the southwestern US) thrive, so can we. It boggles my mind to see Windsor, with our incredible location suffering the way we are…
