Shanfield-Meyers Day downtown

I am sure most of you have come to the conclusion that the contributors to ScaleDown have had an incredibly busy summer. Take a look at the number of posts and you’ll know our plates have been rather full the past few months. We appreciate your patience with us during our “slow time” and are thankful for the great readership SD has attracted. Your passionate debate and ideas shared on this site are the most compelling reason to get back at it in a big way!
With September rearing it’s ugly head, so will SD’s regular posting schedule. Mark on Mondays, James on Wednesdays and myself on Fridays. Those, plus out regular updates of the Scaledown Radio hour (which is moving on September 15 to Mondays, noon ’till 1:00) and our schedules are quite full.
If you have any ideas you think would make a good article or radio show, please let us know! Better yet, if you want to stretch those writing muscles of yours, we always welcome new guest bloggers. The more diversity of opinion and talent, the better the website.
In the meantime, we would highly recommend that you make a trip downtown today to celebrate the continued success of one of downtown’s most recognizable businesses, Shanfield-Meyers. From the DWBIA’s press release…
The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association invites you to attend the Shanfield-Meyers Appreciation Day
Friday, August 29, 2008 from 11:30 - 2:00
The DWBIA will honour the family-owned and operated business which has served Windsorites and visitors for more than 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. Shanfield will be recognized for their contributions to downtown Windsor, our community and to our retail industry with presentations from the City of Windsor and the DWBIA
Shanfield-Meyers Jewelry and China Shop, 188 Ouellette Ave.
Join us for live entertainment, cake and refreshments.

Congrats to both of them for sticking it out so long. But please do something with that facade! I will paint if for free if you supply the paint!
