Chinatown - Al Teshuba and Peter Lui on Scaledown Radio
Tomorrow Tune in to Scaledown Radio to listen to guests Al Teshuba and Peter Lui. We’ll look to the answers to some important questions such as “Why Chinatown and not Asian Village?”. “How realistic is it to use CP rail’s tracks for a light rail connection to Detroit?” and many others
This could be the most important neighborhood development and rebranding that Windsor will see especially with City Center West on Hold. Tune in to get all the information you need

I really like this idea.. but I do think it should be labelled as an “Asian Village” instead of just a Chinatown. But, I do think the people that are actually putting the effort into making this happen should be free to call it whatever they desire. It’s a cool idea.. and more power to them. Glad to see SOMEONE is trying to make this city interesting… and no suprise that it is immigrants. While Windsorites are getting all angry about immigrants and refugees coming into Canada, it is those immigrants that are adding flavour to this city, while the Windsorites just bellyache.
My suggestion for having it as an all encompassing “Asian Village” would be because this area has a lot of asian restaurants and stores that aren’t strictly Chinese. and plus it leaves room to grow. Either way it would be awesome.. University ave. near the UofW with all of it’s asian restaurants and grocery stores is already my favourite part of the city.
We couldn’t agree more, Mike. Listen to this weeks episode of Scaledown Radio to hear more of the details. It appears that Mr. Lui was going with the “ChinaTown” moniker as that is what the area was designated in a 1999 report to city hall. They didn’t seem at all opposed to the “Asian Village” idea.
Watch for this Friday’s blog entry, as I’m scanning Mr. Lui’s architectural renderings to include in the post so that everyone can see and feel what it is he is proposing.
