Downtown, downtown, downtown! When are these Scaledown guys going to take a step out of the downtown and visit some other areas of the city?!?

We know, folks. We’re trying! However, after our city council held a “Strategic Planning” meeting Tuesday focused on downtown issues, we felt we would be doing a disservice if we didn’t focus on downtown again.

So that’s what we did. After sitting through yet another meeting whose conclusion was to plan another meeting, Mark and I sifted through what was said and the people who said it to bring you our thoughts on which members of council and administration “get it”, and which ones don’t. You’ll be surprised to hear the answers.

Larry Horwitz of the DWBIA joins us as well to speak about the roadblocks to downtown revitalization and his thoughts on where our core is headed, the strategic planning meeting and more…

If our downtown wasn’t so important to the health of the rest of the city, it wouldn’t be gtting so much of our attention. Trust me when I say that a healthy downtown will boost the health of all our other communities and BIA’s. That much has been proven.

Oh yeah - that new bicycle rental business we featured on the show?  They’re still in the preliminary stages of opening, but they are open for business.  They’re called Boardwalk Bikes and Ice Cream, and they’re located at 350 Riverside Drive East, right on the Riverfront Trail in the pavillion building next to the riverfront plaza.  Call John at 252-8841 (or cell, 551-6825) for more info, and tell him the Scaledown sent you.  When they get more information available we’ll be sure to pas it along to you!
